In twentieth century, Japan is a force in East Asia. With their imperialism in China and Korea, they influenced the East Asia’s cultural, society and so Japanese imperialism mark a dark age of Asia with their civilization. Japan took advantage of their military to imposed Westernization for the neighbor country. Although it was Westernization but mostly Asia got was destruction in culture and people. China consider their women as a tool and a resource to improve their society. Women were being forced to be prostitutes for soldiers after the fight, they were nothing than a tool, broken and being abused. Humanity was not exist in that period of time, people only care about money and power. It was consequence of Imperialism, when Japan follow it they could gain more power and could change their country. After followed Westernization, they had an advance in technology and power. And so they need more resources, more land to expand their ruler. It was reasonable for the ruler of Japan over China and Korea, it gained for them a lot of benefit such as economy growth, power and forces. But their neighbor was not good like it, China suffered by divided government and territories and they also suffered from the action of Japan and Western which made them very difficult in development. Moreover, China and Korea society has been corrupted because of the war. Women became resource for their country, they did not have a voice or a stand in the community and they were nothing more than a tool for men to be pleasure.

At the time 1900s, we mainly see how many countries try to industrialize such as Germany from an agricultural country become a very powerful country due to steel industry. Germany was not a strong country in Europe in the early 1900s, but since their discovered the coal, iron and the strong potential, they became powerful and affected strongly to the world until World War II. Because of the numerous resources it made Germany to the most modern industry country in Europe and along with it was power. Since Germany had power they start to have issues and conflict in politics. Because of the conflicts and the power, Germany believe that they had to expand their country. They need more territories, colonies and more resources to compete with England and France. And from here, in Germany started to imperialism.

 

In 1900s, we could see that is was very important to expand the country and with USA it was not exception. The United States joined the war with Philippines to help their independence but shortly after that they asserted that they were tried to civilize the novice. This was just a reason for America to expand their ruler, because in Europe there was a race between Germany and England in industrialization. This could be a very good reason for the guerilla warfare because the Filipino was tried to reclaim their country and their independent from the USA. The United States ruled Philippine over Spain by fighting with them because of colonial violence but then applied exactly like what Spain did.

 

 

The 1900s witnessed many modernizations in different country. The effects of Western civilization had made Yukichi start to think about modernize his country but the way to do it was cruel to their ancestor and their culture. In that time, Yukichi saw a lot of advantage in Western civilization, their technology and compared to their resources which was left so far behind. He thought that because of the way the ancestor did was so slow and not giving enough advancement. As he said:” Civilization is like an epidemic of Measles” and he considered that this was a task of a wise man. He would not resist it but instead he would think it was a wisely decision to let the epidemic spread away and immersed in it. This was so hard to accept it because he wanted to wipe out all of his ancestors believe and work to adapt a new civilization. Even though he wanted to modernize his country but he also needs to remember and thankful for what the ancestors had done, it is unacceptable to forget and deny what they have done and follow a new civilization.

Another reason for him to so agree with the Western life was Japan was grouped with others countries that had been left behind because of poor technology and old civilization. His ideal was get rid of the old traditional and follow the new ideal which was Imperialism. He wanted to leave others countries behind and then create a new trend for Japan and Asian: “Thus we have not only gotten rid of the old customs of Japan, but also created a new trend in Asia as a whole.” It was acceptable to follow a new ways when his country was weak and need a new method to change the country but get rid of old culture and traditional and following Western civilization was unacceptable
